The year 2020 definitely brought many unforeseen changes to wedding day plans - but Catie and Brendan's romantic, intimate wedding is proof that nothing can get in the way of the true meaning of marriage.
Catie and Brendan originally planned to get married in Nashville, TN. When it became apparent that large gatherings would not be possible this summer, they decided to postpone their big wedding celebration to next year, but wanted to go ahead and tie the knot now. I can only imagine how difficult of a decision this was on them (and many of my other couples). But Catie and Brendan's excitement to become husband and wife now was evident throughout their intimate wedding day, and I 'm so happy that they chose what was best for them!
Catie chose to wear a stunning beaded gown, and her bouquet was organic yet elegant. Their dog Meeko joined them after their first look, and the guest list included their parents and siblings. Each parent had a part in the ceremony. It was so special hearing what each person had to say! I also loved the letter box they included in their ceremony, filled with letters from each family member. Cate and Brendan locked it and will reopen it on their one year anniversary. What a fun way to reflect on their first year of marriage by reading the letters so close to their "big celebration" date in 2021!
Although 2020 has brought many changes to the wedding industry, they have not all been unfortunate. Some changes have been a blessing. I believe these smaller weddings have been a reminder of what a wedding day is truly about - two people choosing each other forever. The intimate wedding days I've photographed this year have been some of the most romantic, genuine and thoughtful days I've ever been a part of. I'm overjoyed to see the heart of marriage being reflected upon and celebrated in these small gatherings!
