honeymoon

Always call the resort to see what they offer. We got a cheaper deal through Beloved Playa Mujeres than through Expedia or a travel agent (we researched lots of options). Also, if you are FLYING out of the country you need a passport BOOK, not a passport card. I hope this saves someone else the stress of finding an emergency passport office 12 hours into marriage!!

We honeymooned abroad in Budapest, Hungary and in Tel Aviv, Israel! We booked everything on our own! We used Google flights to find the flights and then booking.com to book the hotels. We had a great experience in both places! We downloaded the apps that are those countries versions of Uber/Lyft and were able to get around everywhere easily! Our favorite things in Budapest were the Szychenyi Thermal Baths and a river dinner cruise, and our favorite things in Israel were exploring the Old City in Jerusalem and the markets in Jaffa.  We had friends in Israel who suggested things for us to do and showed us around part of the time that we were there!

For our honeymoon, Ethan and I traveled to Greece! We booked the trip through a travel agency and that was so helpful! Our travel agent took care of everything, like booking flights, planning excursions, booking hotels, etc. When we arrived in Greece, we were given a packet that had clear directions about everything we were doing, how we would get there, and what time everything took place. That truly made our trip more enjoyable because we had a plan for everything and didn’t have to worry as much!

We knew we wanted to go to the beach and preferred it to be within a decent driving distance. We looked at Airbnb’s in Florida and South Carolina and ended up going to Hilton Head! We were walking distance to the beach and restaurants and biking distance to so much more. We wanted a relaxing trip to enjoy being married and that is what we had. We bought groceries for breakfasts and lunches and then enjoyed dinners out, this plan helped us keep from going overboard but we still felt like we indulged a little bit since it was our honeymoon.

Don't feel like you have to go out of the country or on some extravagant trip to have an awesome honeymoon! Soak up/enjoy this time that you have with your new husband or new wife and the rest of it is just an added bonus!

We had a few friends that offered us their condos so we were super fortunate. So make sure you ask family friends if they have a place you can use to save money!
